Events for Adventurers: The Lake City Ice Climbing Festival

Share:

Alluring, blue ice cliffs await you in Lake City Feb. 9. The town is hosting its annual ice climbing festival and for only $30–35 you can enter to see if you have what it takes to scale those icy cliffs above Henson Creek.

Go vertical on top-rope and lead speed events in both men’s and women’s categories. The bluffs offer 15 routes with 60- to 100-foot pitches and mixed grades. So, get your crampons on and go to town — you might even make it atop the podium at the award ceremony, which gives out prizes for the best climbs.

The Lake City Ice Park is located on the southeast edge of Lake City, off County Road 20. You’ll see the cliffs across from Henson Creek. Festival registration begins at 9am, with the competition beginning at 10am. Even if you’re not climbing — it’s a spectacle to behold!
