The Bivvi Hostel

The Bivvi Hostel

Surrounded by peak-studded views and lodgepole pines, The Bivvi Hostel is just minutes from historic Main Street, Breckenridge Ski Resort and a bevy of quintessentially Colorado activities. No matter the season, this adventure-lover’s paradise is a good jumping-off point for top-of-the-world exploration and outdoorsy bliss.

The Bivvi delivers an alpine sense of style, comfort and hospitality that well suits its high-elevation location. The luxe hostel property features group and private rooms, along with suites, perfect for high-altitude dreams after a day of shredding or hiking. You’ll also find outstanding amenities, like free hot breakfast, a large hot tub overlooking the mountains, a cozy bar where the taps flow with craft beer, ski and bike storage, board games and so much more. Public spaces are artfully decorated with only-in-the-mountains detailing, like antlers and lots (and lots) of buttery pine.

What makes it special?

A stay at the The Bivvi means you can soak to your heart’s content in its steaming crown jewel — a ginormous outdoor hot tub with picture-perfect views of the ridged and often snowy Tenmile Range. (Plus, each room has its own private bath, a boast most hostels can’t match.)

The most Colorado thing about this place

The après-ski scene at the Bivvi Bar is a classic Colorado experience. Sip frosty local brews while reliving the day’s runs with a gorgeous backdrop of the powdery mountains you conquered just hours earlier.

Best room to book

Although the Hot Tub Suite comes with its own — you guessed it — private indoor hot tub, the Super Suite is considered the best room in the house. Book it to enjoy a pinewood king-sized bed, gas fireplace, vaulted ceiling, a large private balcony, Wi-Fi and a free hot breakfast.

Top sensory experience you’ll encounter

It goes without saying that stunning mountain surroundings will stimulate every sense, but we’re going with “taste” here. Wake up to a bountiful complimentary breakfast with eggs, fluffy buttermilk pancakes, French toast, pork sausage, hash browns, homemade granola, fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, muffins, juice and organic Colorado-roasted coffee.

Most striking feature

Some large rooms and common areas feature peacock-blue antlers pieced together and strung with lights to create dramatic chandeliers that hang from high ceilings.

Coolest amenity

All Bivvi guests receive 10 percent off ski and snowboard rentals from Ski Butlers in Breckenridge, who will even deliver equipment to your door.

Quirkiest thing to expect

Bunkbeds in the hostel’s multi-person rooms each come with their own private reading lantern hung right at the head of the bed.

Our favorite traveler review

“It doesn't get much better than this place. This hostel has a bar with a fireplace, offering a cozy lounge and board games, while outside features a hot tub with mountain views. Breakfast was quality and delicious, the beds are super comfortable, the lifts are very close and easily accessible and, most importantly, the staff were all legends! They were super friendly and more than happy to go out of their way to help. I will be back, that’s for sure!” – Andre SQ, Tripadvisor
