Gravity Haus Steamboat

Tucked at Steamboat Ski Resort’s base, Gravity Haus Steamboat delivers quick access to the lifts plus everything else you’ll want to do in Steamboat Springs. You’ll be hiking, biking or skiing with million-dollar views one day, then soaking in toasty hot springs the next, all the while popping downtown for delicious meals and boutiques before retiring mountainside.

These ski-in/ski-out (or, in summertime, bike-in/bike-out) digs look completely refreshed. From the hotel’s public gathering places to its private rooms, you’ll love the modern-meets-quirky mountain decor and all the plush bedding. Book your getaway with views of the tree-lined slopes or vibrant ski base to feel like you’re sleeping right on the mountain. Room types include standard, studio, loft suites — and there’s even one with a king bed and bunkbeds for you and your little rippers.

What makes it special?

It’s all the little details that elevate this classic ski-town lodging experience. You can splash around in the outdoor heated pool and hot tub; book your ski/snowboard rentals at the on-site shop; get some work done in the co-working space between powder laps (starting winter 2023); and gather for happy hour at the White Rabbit Tavern, the hotel’s new restaurant (also coming in winter 2023). If you’re lucky, you may even spot a family of moose hanging out near the slopes (just remember, you can look but give these cranky big guys some space to roam on their own).

The most “Colorado” thing about this place

Being able to bring your furry best friend along on vacation is a quintessential Colorado experience, and Gravity Haus Steamboat touts its pooch-friendly room offerings right on its website.

Coolest amenity

We love that it’s so close to the slopes. You can literally go out the door and hop on the chairlift. No fuss, just fun!

Top sensory encounter you’ll experience

It’s those quiet morning moments listening to the creak of the chairlift as you ride up for first-of-the-morning turns at Ski Town, U.S.A. The powder glistens in the cold mountain air as you meditate on which ski trail to tackle first — maybe it’ll be Stampede … or Rainbow … or what about Royal Flush?

Our favorite traveler review

“We went during the summer season and stayed in one of the family rooms. Kids loved the loft beds, and we enjoyed the space. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was also quite refreshing. I can see why it would be a great option during ski season — cheap pass for the ski lift right on the property.”

Things to see & do nearby

If reflective, tree-hugged hot springs are your kind of thing, Strawberry Park Hot Springs’ prismatic waters will make you feel like you’re soaking in Mother Nature’s bathtub. Nearby biking and biking trails worthy of exploration include Emerald Mountain Quarry, Spring Creek Trail and, of course, the Yampa River Core Trail. Fly-fishing in the Yampa River is another must, as is a stop at F.M. Light & Sons for true Colorado Western wear.
