A mint-green Aframe in Bailey, Colorado, stands among pine trees with an open clearing in front of it.

Bailey A-Frame

Bailey is home to expansive mountain views, thickets of trees perfect for leaf peeping in autumn, rushing waterfalls and hiking for all skill levels. Only an hour’s drive from Denver, this renovated 1960s A-frame is the perfect getaway for serenity seekers.

You’ll immediately feel welcome at this charmer of an A-frame cabin painted mossy green with white trim and lined with twinkling, warm porch lights. Follow the little path through a clearing and take a seat on rustic wood patio — or soak yourself in the cedar hot tub’s toasty water (it’s just steps away!). Inside, you’ll be engulfed in retro decor mixed in with clean, white walls reflecting the sun’s glowing rays. Pour out a hot cup of local Joe in the kitchen or enjoy a relaxing meal at the table by the stone fireplace. And that’s just the first floor — upstairs holds even more magic. Sink into the soft queen-size bed and peek through the arched window in the master bedroom to gaze at vast stretches of Colorado’s rolling hills. Find a similarly breathtaking view just through the adjacent bedroom, where additional guests or kiddos can stay.

What makes it special?

Everything about this house exudes a 1960s-chic vibe that’ll get you doing the twist while making your morning toast. From the green-patterned wallpaper and vintage kitchen appliances to the sleek wood-paneling, you’ll get a taste of the past with all the convenience of the present.

The most Colorado thing about this place

It’s obviously the cedar hot tub. Only a few steps away from the front door, this bad boy is beautiful and functional, with walls of light-brown cedar and bench seating. Nothing screams “Colorado” like taking a dip in bubbling, hot water amidst the pine trees.

The interior of the Bailey A-Frame. The roof is in a geometrical shape, white with accents of dark brown wood. There is a long L-shaped dark blue couch with light pink pillows and a wooden coffee table with a brown chair next to it. In the background is a small kitchen with patterned wallpaper, several appliances, and three wire-legged stools at the bar. To the left is a golden metal bar cart with fake plants, alcohol bottles, and a welcome message on a little board.
A two-tiered light brown cedar hot tub steams with the hot water inside. There is a patterned towel lying on the lower level of the hot tub. There is a light layer of snow on the first layer. In the background is sunlight filtering in through green-and-brown pine trees.

Coolest amenity

Everything you see at this A-frame is curated specifically by the host, Whitney, from the vibrant furniture and quirky decorations to the message that reads “Welcome” on the gold-rimmed bar cart. She goes above and beyond with exceptional attention to detail and responsiveness to make this vacation spot your home-away-from-home.

Most unexpected amenity

Although this cozy den is located near other houses, the space between you and neighbors — barring squirrels, birds or deer — is large enough for you to appreciate maximum privacy for a chill getaway. Pro tip: Make sure to lock your car doors and dispose of any trash in receptacles, though — bears are also one of your possible neighbors here, and respecting their home will benefit both them and you.

A shot from the Bailey A-Frame patio. There is someone in winter clothing standing at the right side of the well-manicured wooden patio near the stairs down. The view is of the expansive downhill field of pine trees, reaching tall to the bright sky.
An image of the main bedroom in the Bailey A-Frame. The A-frame ceiling is dark brown wood, framing a large arched window with green curtains above the white-linen bed. There are little tables on either side of the bed. In the lower right corner of the photo is a dark green arm chair with a round pillow and a blanket thrown on the back.
An aerial shot of the cedar hot tub and half of the patio at the Bailey A-Frame. There are two people in the hot tub and two people tending to the patio firepit on the patio. The patio is decorated with a few white wire chairs and a large gray couch. The brown ground is covered mostly in snow.

Our favorite traveler review

“A true oasis! So many thoughtful touches, and the love and care that was put into the renovation are evident throughout the space. My only regret is not booking three nights so we could have enjoyed it even longer. Lounging in the hot tub under the stars was truly magical, and the afternoon light makes the place extra cozy. We cannot wait to come back with friends!” — Stephanie, Airbnb
