The Maven in Denver

The Maven at Dairy Block

Make Denver’s historical LoDo (Lower Downtown) neighborhood your home base to sleep in a circa-1916, refurbished commercial structure that once housed the Windsor Dairy. This innovative shopping-and-dining district near Union Station includes ultra-cool The Maven at Dairy Block hotel.

You’ll feel right at home in The Maven’s sleekly styled hotel rooms delivering industrial details, like dark-metal railings and fixtures, and lots of natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Some rooms are outfitted with bunkbeds while others have wet bars, balconies and luxurious soaking tubs. Rooms are Fido friendly — just ask for pup treats from the front desk.

What makes it special?

We’re going with all the fabulous restaurants and drinkeries at your fingertips including the Poka Lola Social Club cocktail bar, southwestern-styled Kachina Cantina and, of course, the aptly named Denver Milk Market’s food stalls — offering everything from brunch to craft beers. You can claim your complimentary housemade margarita, glass of vino or craft brew from the front desk from 4–7pm daily.

The most Colorado thing about this place

It’s the hotel’s location in Denver’s Prohibition Era Dairy Block, loved by early Denverites for its fresh and yummy milk, butter and cheeses. Now that history lives on in the micro-district’s clever agricultural-inspired business names and farm-animal-themed decor.

Coolest amenity

It’s definitely cool how much they love dogs here. In addition to the tasty treats tucked behind The Maven’s front desk, your furry companions get their own in-room doggy bowls and a comfy beds. Plus, you’ll get a detailed guide of the local dog-friendly hot spots when you check in — perfect for planning a day of awesome adventures with your favorite woofer.

Most unexpected amenity

The Innovator Suite King room boasts an illustration-style mural of a groovy lady dressed in disco attire (think black thigh-high boots and a mini smock dress). This might not be an amenity, by definition, but it’s certainly unexpected. Oh, also, you can order house-made margaritas to your room that’ll make your mouth pucker in a good way.

Quirkiest thing to expect

Book the Journeyman Bunk Bedroom to read your just-bought Tattered Cover book in a pillowed hanging chair. You’ll see city views — including Coors Field, where Denver’s beloved Colorado Rockies play ball — through the wall-sized window as you dangle.

Our favorite traveler review

“I work half the week in hotels, and I was wholly gobsmacked with the delightfully efficient, happy, knowledgeable service I experienced at The Maven hotel this week — from Gerry the GM to Maria at the concierge to the friendly room support staff. I loved the pour-over coffee in my room, having the wonderful local coffee roasters in the lobby, a TV that I controlled with my phone, uber-comfy bed, superb reading lights (of which I am a stickler for), my evening complimentary cocktail, delicious breakfast quiche at Milk Market, fantastic sushi at For[a]ged next door and the best shower for miles. Yum times 10. — Cindy O., Tripadvisor
