Bar Lazy J Guest Ranch

Generations of families return to Bar Lazy J Ranch for its distinctive combination of Old West atmosphere and modern-day creature comforts. Loved for its proximity to the vast Colorado River waters in Parshall, the all-inclusive dude ranch has hosted epic Western adventures since 1912.

But you won’t have to rough it like those resourceful cowpokes did more than a century ago. Guests will love all the vacation-worthy amenities, like the heated pool and hot tub, the kids’ activities and game barn, farm-fresh dishes, massage therapy and evening entertainment. Giddyap!

What makes it special?

From scenic trail rides to guided hikes, from the specialized children’s programs to the petting corral to the zipline over the river, you’ll share fabulous moments you’ll talk about for years to come.

The most Colorado thing about this place

Quirkiest thing to expect

This ranch wants you to fully embrace your inner buckaroo. Borrow a complimentary cowboy hat and boots from their trail-tested supply.

Most unexpected amenity

The Bar Lazy J adores children, but they also understand the allure of a weekend without them. That’s why, for seven weeks every season, you can take advantage of adults-only vacation time — with extra activities, longer trail rides and grown-up evening events.

Room with the best view

Each of the ranch’s rustic cabins are nestled on banks of the rushing Colorado River. And everyone agrees the best view is watching the art of fly-fishing just steps from your porch.

One of our favorite traveler reviews

“Best trip ever. I have been wanting to go to a guest ranch for about 60 years. When you go to Bar Lazy J, you drive through the gate as a guest, but you leave as family. The crew all go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Their horses are the best I have ever ridden, the scenery is breathtaking and the staff show on Friday is hilarious. I would give it 10 stars if possible.”  — Ray A., Google Reviews

Things to see and do nearby

It’s hard to beat the splendor of the rugged scenery and bounty of wildlife at Rocky Mountain National Park, which is only about 40 minutes from the ranch. Hike to see a kaleidoscope of blooms, like the state’s favorite wildflower — the Rocky Mountain columbine.
